Move on over, drawing style.

Fri Aug 4, 2006, 1:27 PM
Nowadays I find myself watching the disney channel on a regular basis (except for some the really retarded and kiddified shows/cartoons/movies). I've become interested in the movie Anastasia and continuously watching Anastasia music vids more and more often because of the unforgettable "At the beginning" sung by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis. I love this song more than any other anime or Asian pop music I've heard. I saw Peter Pan Return to Neverland just yesterday and I thought it was really touching. I'm really amazed at how I could have missed on such great animation in the past because of my lack of interest and hate for Disney because of how kiddified some movies could be, but as I take a closer look, I realize that Disney movies (not the spinoffs, mind you) are what really move my heart a lot more than anime could ever do.

I don't really find myself being interested in anime as much as I used to. It could be I'm going through a point where I think that it's becoming too repetitive and unoriginal for me. I still like it, but just not much. Disney classics may be another one of those fairy tales, but at the storylines are what really move me. I would probably choose a 1990-2000 classic over an OVA anytime, except for the kiddy ones. Actually, I hardly watch anime. I'll watch Naruto from time to time, but I pretty much have little interest in the show.

I'm thinking about slowly moving away from the anime style, and maybe go for like a realistic-cartoon style. Looking at Anastasia music vids, I'm truly amazed at how well they are drawn and it makes it feel like they are real and just out there. But then it's like if I try cartoon realism, it'd seem like anime-realism. I need to work on cartoon realism.

Yeah, I've become an Anastasia/Peter Pan fan. Anime does not suck, I'm just thinking about moving on to something else. I think it's a little overrated. But I still like the Pokemon music vids on youtube. You should check them out sometime.

Well, evolution is all a part of artist growth.

By the way... Why is it my request has remained untouched? Is the subject matter too difficult for you? I could always change it. Send me a note if you would please.
everyonce in a while you've got to change things up just to keep it interesting.

personally, i've been doing Anime for 8 years. i've never wanted to try anything else. i'm not good enough with anime that i would want to try something else. oh, i've tried a bit of realism now and then, i've tried desktops and icons and traditional medias, photography, photo manip. . . and i dunno. i keep coming back to anime. it's what i enjoy doing .i enjoy bettering myself, learning new things, new techniques and colouring styles. . . i want to be good. i want to look at my art and see something i'm proud of. i've put 8 years into it and i'd never go back. perhaps when i've gotten good enough i'll try something else. but at the moment my muse is standing behind me with a bloody whip and i daren't stop now :XD: not 8 years into it with a scarey muse standing behind me ^^;

it's good that your doing what your heart says you should do. ^^ (persoanlly ,i think people who make music videos like that on Youtube are wasting time and effort but hey what do i know)

the best of luck to you. ^^

Thats not art, thats just annoying - Squidward
Yay, you figured it out.

Disney + most American studios >>>>> Anime.

I mean, anime is cool and all, but I've never seen an anime even nearly touch the work on The Lion King.

Sorry I haven't responded, my internet hasn't been working for 4 days. It's not hard, I'm just taking a break from DA and drawing for a bit, and sorry if I haven't gotten to it. It's not hard, I haven't found any inspiration to draw lately. Again, really really sorry. I'll get to it as soon as I can.
I meant shows like Kim Possible, Jake Long, Naturally Sadie, Even Stevens, and the likes. I tried sitting and watching these shows, but for some reason, it just that I see them as "too disneyfied" (not that there's anything wrong with them). I mean, I'm into pop culture, but the way they portray pop culture is just sorta kiddified, well the shows are for little kids anyway. Just like Zoey 101, man I hate this show with a passion. They overdue pop culture by portraying the super preppy type girls and it's as if they try too hard to make it like reality or something.

Nothing wrong with kiddy stuff. I like watching Blue's Clues from time to time. It's so sad that Steve didn't show up for the Blue's baby brother episode...or the 10th anniversary...or something.
I know he's got good stuff. I check out his art every once in a while.
I thought all those shows were like anime spin-offs for the most part.
